A New Website for a New Era
Hello and Well Met Traveler! Thanks for giving this portfolio site and Blog a visit! If you love fantasy, characters and illustrations you are in the right place. For a long while I have been in limbo as an artist and creative and I haven’t dedicated the time to making a fancy website for myself. Now that the world of online and digital art is evolving I think it is the right time to start my next stage in my creative journey. For years I have been coming up with excuses for why I shouldn’t make this website. Mostly I am unhappy with my old art and I never felt like I had enough new designs and illustration to warrant creating a website for my work. In the end, I found that you just have to pull the trigger and put the best work you have out there for people to see.
With the rise of AI Art I think it is wise to present who you are as a person and what your views add to your own art. Here you will find my deep love for fantasy and dark fantasy but at the core of each is hope. You might also find that my interests and mediums change so in upcoming blogs I might post digital art, sketches, or even gouache and acrylic marker paintings. This could range from landscapes to character designs I am in the process of making step by step. Some of it I guarantee will be messy, but sometimes I find that is the most interesting content you can learn from. I might even post what playlist I was listening to on certain projects or what books and materials I used as reference. I want to treat this website as an evolving portfolio or almost a real time step-by-step portfolio.
The Final Design and Illustration for The Boogeyman
The Rough Thumbnails of the Boogeyman
My friend NodBard even made a song for this illustration, I commissioned him and everything. You can find his music over on Spotify and YouTube. I also liked this goofy old song from 1932 “Here Comes the Boogey Man” from Henry Hall. It fits because this character’s storyline starts in the 1900’s and goes as long as I can keep coming up with short stories for him! I always like thinking of monster of the week stories for him.
I am really excited to start this creative journey and if even just one person reads these blogs and finds some little moment of escapism and inspiration I will be happy! Also fair warning this blog will get nerdy too. But as one of my favorite shows says “Ain’t that just the way!”
